POTTERY MARKET IN GMUNDEN – AUSTRIA
28. – 30. August 2026
Every year in August – this year from the 28th to the 30st – Gmunden am Traunsee – Ceramic Town, becomes the Mecca for ceramic arts and turns the Town Hall Square and the Promenade near the lake into a stage for the European ceramic elite.
Once again the promoters have to choose effective cities of arts for the year, cities that present an ambitious mix and a selection of contemporary works in ceramic, of any shape. This way the visitor will be able to get a good sense of the European pottery scene of this year, too. Thanks to the invitation of guests from abroad (this year we expect guests from Great Britain) a more intense, professional, as well as cultural exchange is possible not only among the ceramists taking part to the project, but also among these and the visitors.
Together with the market there will be also the Room of Contemporary Ceramic Art. This way works of both young and renowned ceramists from Austria and abroad will be displayed in the galleries and exhibition rooms in Gmunden. For example Petra Lindenbauer from Germany or the exhibition of the guest of Great Britain in the water castle Schloss Ort.
There is also a cultural program for the guests, like the magic wheel of Thomas Benirschke, a children´s area, where the kids can work with clay and the music entertainment of the musicgroupe Motovidlo from the Tech Republic.
All of this contributes to giving our city a better position as a Ceramics Town, both in Austria and abroad.
